Kathmandu, September 10:
The Narcotic Drug Control and Law Enforcement Unit, New Baneswor, yesterday arrested a man with 400 grams of brown sugar.
Shree Dev Kapari, 28, was arrested from his house in Kirtipur. Kapari had fled from the Sundarijal prison on September 15 last year. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Kathmandu District Court for peddling drugs on February 4, 2003.
Police have held eight others with around 250 grams of white heroin and 96 grams of brown sugar.
Three Indian citizens and a Nepali were arrested last Saturday with 250 grams of white heroin from Kalanki Khashi Bazaar. Those arrested included Akhanda Prasad Baiju, 27, of Tansen Municipality-5 in Palpa, Jokhu Shah, 45, and Gopal Shah, 65, of Raxaul and Papu Jaiswal, 26, of Madhya Pradesh.
Deu Bahadur Thapa Magar, 28, and Hom Bahadur Thapa Magar, 19, were held from Maitighar with 86 grams of brown sugar yesterday.
Shailendra Shrestha, 27, and Takdir Ratna Shakya, 21, were held from Lagan Ganawal with 10 grams of brown sugar.
