Kathmandu, September 25:
Minister for Finance Dr Ram Sharan Mahat today said constituent assembly election should not be postponed by demanding change in the leadership of the government.
Inaugurating a seminar organised here today by the Nepal Financial Institution Employees’ Association on Dignified Work and Participation of Labour for Trade Union Right, he urged concerned parties to raise demand for change in leadership only after constituent assembly election.
He objected that the party which waged armed struggle to demand election for a constituent assembly is trying to disrupt or hinder the election at a time when the nation has invested a huge amount for holding the election on scheduled date.
Stating that there was consensus that the fate of monarchy would be decided through first meeting of constituent assembly, he said it would not be appropriate to put forward demand to declare the republic from parliament itself.
Minister Dr Mahat said the government had been functioning as per the peace agreement.
