Nepalgunj, September 28:

Floods caused by two-days of incessant rain in the Rapti river have inundated over 25 houses at Gangapur VDC-7 in Banke today.

Two houses of Amarnath Yogi and Bikram Tiwari collapsed due to the rain.

Rainwater entered the Kalaphanta Police Post, SP at the Banke District Police Office Krishna Hari Sharma said.

The people of Holiya VDC are at risk as the river is causing land erosion there, he further said.

People of Himrahana, Tepari and Ghodiyapur villages of Holiya VDC have begun shifting to safer places, locals said.

Meanwhile, flood in the Man river has caused land erosion in Gijramfarm of Udharapur and at Simalghari of Sonpur VDC, locals said.

Heavy rain also inundated different parts of Nepalgunj city. Locals of Dhambojhi and Ganeshpur are taking shelter in the houses of relatives as rainwater has entered Dhambojhi and Ganeshpur. Dhambojhi and Setu BK Chowk have been waterlogged, making it difficult for the people to move around.

Details of the losses caused by the rain and flood have not arrived yet, SP Sharma said.
