Chitwan, October 13:

Chairman of the International Coordination Council of Non-Resident Nepalis Dr Upendra Mahato said today that Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) are ready to extend help for the development and extension of waterways, health and agriculture sectors as per the consent of the people of Chitwan.

Inaugurating the NRN Devghat Briddaashram (an old-age home) built with the help of the NRN in Devghat, Mahato said, “The person who always takes things from others and never offers things to others will never succeed.”

Mahato said the old-age home was like a sacred temple.

The temple was constructed at the cost of Rs 1.4 crore. Fifty NRNs staying in 13 countries donated funds for the construction of the old-age home. Managing director of Bharatpur-based Asha Hospital Narayan Kunwar promised to provide Rs 4.5 lakh for the old-age home.

It was stated on the occasion that German Nepali Friendship Society coordinated by a non-resident Nepali based in Germany, Ram Prasad Thapa, will provide Rs 20 lakh for the supply of drinking water in the old-age home.

Coordinator of the NRN Devghat Briddaashram Construction Committee Jeeba Lamichanne, FNCCI chairman Chandiraj Dhakal, chairman of Devghat Development Committee Dr Guru Prasad Subedi, Chitwan CDO Ratnaraj Pandey and chairman of Ratnanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industries Narayan Kaji Shrestha also addressed the function.
