Leaders of the major political parties today said that founder leader of the Communist Party of Nepal Niranjan Govinda Baidhya devoted his entire life for the cause of democracy and leftist movement in the country.

They made this remark while addressing a condolence meeting organised in memoray of Baidhya, who died of blood cancer on December 25 last year. CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal said that Baidhya contributed to the democratic and leftist movement by publishing and distributing socialist and communist literature. As a founder leader of the Communist Party of Nepal, Baidhya’s only dream that never materialised was to see a unified communist party.

Nepal said that main challenges ahead of them at present was to restore peace in the country and bring the derailed democratic process back on track. Shishir Baidhya, the son of the late leader, said that they spent their childhood without the care of his father, as he always remained busy in the expansion of the communist movement.

Sonam of the Unity Centre (Masal) said his death left an irreparable loss to his party in which he worked as an advisor during the last phase of his life. Others who expressed their views were NC general secretary Shushil Koirala, general secretary of the NSP(Anandi Devi) Hridayesh Tripathi, RPP co-general secretary Khem Raj Pandit and other left leaders.
