Workers against proposed Labour Act

Biratnagar, October 1:

Voicing their opposition to the proposed Labour Act, different labour organisations in Sunsari and Morang today staged a zonal level rally in Biratnagar. Before the rally started, participants urged the government to immediately withdraw the Act, otherwise they would be launch a countrywide protest. “If the Act is not taken back, over 20,000 labourers in the country will be compelled to take serious steps against the government,” said labour leaders. Labour organisations like GEFONT, NTUC and the Democratic Trade Union staged the rally. Meanwhile, women health volunteers of Chitwan held a programme here to mark the second Women Health Volunteers’ Day. Asking for adequate facilities, women health volunteers urged the concerned authorities to be sincere toward their problems.
