LAS win cricket trophy
KATHMANDU: Little Angels’ (LA) School defeated Budhanilkantha School by eight wickets to win the fourth SNB Memorial Inter-school Cricket Tournament organised by AVM HS School on Friday. Batting first at the TU Stadium, Budhanilkantha scored 74/7 in their allotted 20 overs, while LA overcame the target losing to wickets in 13.3 overs. Bikash Khadka and Rohit Khadka scored 13 runs each for Budhanilkantha. Skipper Rochak Bhatta and Samim Akhtar took two wickets each for LA. In reply, man of the match Prajesh Bahadur Singh scored unbeaten 24 and Shailesh Chipalu made not out 15 for LA. Prajwal Karmacharya of AVM was named the man of the series, while LA players Shuvankar Bahadur Singh and Amit Agrahari won the best batsman and best bowler awards respectively. LRI School won the fair play award. — HNS
ITF welcomes Cutler
KATHMANDU: Nepal International Taekwondo Federation (Nepal ITF) president Krishna Bahadur Balal today welcomed Senior ITF Instructor and president of Northern Ireland ITF, Paul Cutler. During his 10-day stay in Nepal, Cutler will hold a three-day National Advance Taekwondo Course organised by Nepal ITF from December 18-20
at the National Sports Council. Cutler will also observe the first Manmohan Memorial National Taekwondo Tournament slated for December 21-22. He is also scheduled to visit Nepal ITF branches and give training, said Nepal ITF at a press meet today. — HNS
Jyoti School in final
KATHMANDU: Jyoti HS School of Eastern Region defeated Marigold School of Western Region 12-11 to enter the final of the first National Inter-school Handball Tournament here on Friday. The other semi-final on Saturday pits two teams from Central Region — Budhanilkantha and Jyoti Academy. The final of the tournament, organised by Nepal Handball Association, is
also slated for Saturday. — HNS
Army, APF triumph
KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) and Nepal APF Club won the inaugural day matches of the volleyball tournament — which has been organised by Nightingale HS School to raise funds for national volleyball player Hari Bahadur Mahato, who has been suffering from kidney failure. At the National Sports Council covered hall, APF beat Nightingale Club 23-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-20 while TAC defeated Nepal Police Club 25-15, 17-25, 25-20, 25-27,
19-17. The round-robin league features four teams, who will play each other

Inter-school basketball
KATHMANDU: Daffodil, New Summit, VS Niketan and LRI entered the semi-finals of the second New Millennium Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Friday. In the day’s quarter-finals, Daffodil outplayed Fluorescent 33-13, New Summit defeated Gyan Niketan 47-43, VS Niketan edged past Little Angels’ 35-33 and LRI beat Kathmandu Xavier Public School 56-35. On Saturday, Daffodil will take on New Summit, while VS Niketan will play against LRI on Sunday. — HNS
Unique basketball
KATHMANDU: Hosts Unique and defending champions Shridiwa School entered the final of the third Unique Inter-school Basketball Tournament here on Friday. In the first match, Unique defeated Valley Public 47-19 in an one-sided affair with Jangbu Sherpa netting 19 points for the winners. In the other semi-final match, Shridiwa outplayed Teresa Academy 50-36. Diwas top-scored in the match with 19 points for the winners. The final is slated for Saturday. — HNS
