GANDAKI, FEBRUARY 6
The International Mountain Museum is gradually developing into an attractive venue for studying mountain culture and nature. Participants at an event here called for making it more systematic and well-managed.
The museum is situated at Ratopaihra, Pokhara metropolis.
Speakers at the 18th IMM anniversary stressed the need to promote and develop the museum as a site where the various aspects of mountain tourism could be observed at the same venue.
The programme was organised by Nepal Mountaineering Association.
Gandaki Province Minister of Internal Affairs and Law Hari Bahadur Chuman said tourism had been taken as the main basis of the province's prosperity and development.
He said the IMM should be developed into a must-see place for tourists visiting Pokhara, pointing out the need to promote the museum as a major tourism destination.
On the occasion, the minister also said the province government would formulate laws required for the overall development of the tourism sector. He stressed the need of active participation of both private and government organisations related to tourism for this.
Stating that there was no alternative to preserving mountain tourism and trekking routes, he called for systematic and sustainable use of such natural heritages.
