Karmic connection

By Rishi Singh

She was a girl next door he was a popular singer. After seeing Neelam’s picture in an advertisement Ram Krishna Dhakal could not resist to go and meet the doe eyed beauty. Soon they were talking regularly on phone and meeting frequently. After a couple of months of courtship he proposed marriage and they got married on November 29, 2002. Now they even have a cute toddler Rani. “It’s been five years but everyday I feel like a newly married,” says Neelam. But being married to a celebrity, a good-looking popular singer is not always pleasant. “Now I am aware of the fans’ mentality and can deal with it but in the beginning it was shocking to see female fans sending him letters asking him to leave me for them,” she says.

According to Neelam her husband is super romantic and caring. They disagree on many things, like Neelam is a big time cricket fan and he loves watching movies. “Whenever there is a match he has to watch HBO or Star movies. If I insist he will just flip the channel, tell me the score and change back to the same channel,” she shares. Talking about a memorable incident she says with a smile, “Once he had a show in Biratnagar and asked me to come but I declined as our daughter was too young to travel by plane. Without my knowledge he consulted our doctor and next thing I know is that he had already boo-ked tickets for both of us.”
