You are deported into a totally different world, untouched by modernity, where people are living as hunters. The period 10,000 BC. It is a time where the words of the spirits are followed to show people the right direction. And amidst all this where people seem to be in an age where they do not have proper food, clothing or habitat, all of a sudden they start speaking fluent English, which from the beginning of the movie, leaves you kind of confused as it’s a bit difficult to comprehend.
The scene that follows with the gigantic creatures that sets the pace of the movie on a fast note gets you intrigued and is quite interesting. The background is totally awesome, the scenic landscapes are breathtaking and the way the creatures have been brought to life is quite amazing too. For sometime all the commotion that takes place brings life to the movie.
Then as the storyline proceeds where the main character goes in search of his beloved and his fellowmen who have been captured by another group, the other groups of men he meets along the way and their journey forward forms the basic storyline. And it is this long and dreary story that makes you cringe at times for the sheer boredom it holds. The incoherent storyline and the mismatched pace, too fast at times and unnervingly slow at times, seem to be the major points that really let your expectations down. It is towards the end however, when you see the massive sets that have been designed and the fast pace the movie had in the starting that captures you once more as it gets a bit interesting.
The actors despite having been given major parts are not really able to capture the audience’s attention. It is only the beautiful scenes, impressively
designed sets, gigantic creatures that steal
the show.
