E-book available for global audience

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 29

Recognizing Nepal as one of the countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has released a book titled Climate Change in Nepal: Impacts, Adaptation and Mitigation.

Senior Scientific Officer at NAST, Pawan Kumar Neupane, said the book was prepared by the Nepal Climate Change Knowledge Management Centre (NCCKMC) at NAST.

Established in November 2010 through a collaborative effort between NAST and the Ministry of Environment (MoE), the NCCKMC was set up under the expanded National Adaptation Program of Action (NAPA), with support from DANIDA, UK DFID, GEF, and UNDP-Nepal. Neupane added that NAST institutionalized the centre in 2013 and began integrating climate change knowledge management into its annual programs.

With the aim of educating citizens and empowering communities, those interested in climate change can access the book as an e-book or digital copy, Neupane shared. The publication features 16 articles authored by distinguished scientists, researchers, and academicians.

Describing the initiative, Neupane said, "This is a modest effort by NCCKMC to bring the issue to the forefront and draw the attention of concerned authorities, local communities, and the international audience."
