Kathmandu, March 16:

Mahavir Cricket Club defeated New Vision Club by 145 runs in the Kathmandu District Senior Cricket Selection Tournament here at the TU Stadium today. Electing to bat first, Paresh Lohani and Yashwant Subedi hit half centuries as Mahavir amassed 225/9 in 40 overs and restricted New Vision for 80 runs in 32 overs.

Man of the match Lohani scored 63 off 80 balls, while Subedi hit 51 off 53. Dipendra Chaudhary scored 23 off 17 balls and Kalam Ali remained unbeaten on 18 off 30 balls. For New Vision, Ram Chaudhary took 4-38 and Pushpan Kumar KC claimed 2-46.

In New Vision’s reply, Hem Chandra Bashu top-scored with 13 runs, while Uday Kumar Thapa (12) and Shovit Chand (11) were the only other batsmen to score in double figures.

Kalam Ali took 3-15, while Raju Basnyat, Raman Shrestha and Kushal Ghale claimed two wickets each for Mahavir Club.

On Monday, New Road Pachak Group will take on Third Eye Club.
