Though, the secondary market opened on negative note with Nepse losing 1.79 points to 712.97 points from last week’s closing of 714.76 points, it closed with a gain of 1.96 points to 716.72 points from last week’s closing. The sensitive index — a barometer of companies under ‘A’ category — also gained 0.73 point to 185.07 points from Sunday’s closing of 184.34 points due to the better performance of the market propellers like Commercial banks group that flared by 6.99 points to 695.88 points from Sunday’s closing 688.89 points, according to the Nepse.
Similarly, Development banks, Finance companies and Manufacturing groups also gained by 11.24 points, 11 points and four points to 1035.25 points, 984.58 points and 414.57 points.
However, Insurance, Hydropower and Hotels group ended in negative territory this week. Insurance group lost 31.68 points to 704.48 points from Sunday’s closing of 736.16 points. Hydropower and Hotels group plunged by 16.06 points and 2.78 points to 1026.02 points and 412.01 points, respectively.
Nepse lost 1.79 points on Sunday — the first day of the trading — from last week’s closing of 714.76 points. However, on the second day, it bounced back by 7.95 points to 720.92 points. On Tuesday, it again plunged by 1.99 points to 718.93 points from Monday’s closing.
On Wednesday also, it lost by 2.98 points to 715.95 points from Tuesday’s closing of 720.92 points. However, it closed in a positive note with a gain of 0.78 points on Thursday — to close the weekly trading at 716.72 points.
National Hydropower topped the chart in terms of monetary value with Rs 44.33 million and in terms of number of shares traded also it topped the chart with 1,49,000 units of shares this week. However, in terms of number of transaction, Annapurna Bikas Bank topped the chart with 594 transactions.
In terms of monetary value, National Hydropower (with Rs 44.33 million), Standard Chartered Bank (with Rs 25.03 million), Kist Merchant Banking and Finance (with Rs 18.24 million), Bank of Kathmandu (with Rs 16.94 million) and Machhapuchhre Bank (with Rs 10.95 million) are this week’s gainers.
