DAMAK: Jhapa district committee member of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists Dhananjaya Baskota, 40, has gone missing since Monday. Baskota, a resident of Damak-14, had left his home at 11 am on Monday for Damak’s Model Campus. He has been out of contact since then, his family said. — RSS

TULSIPUR: An unidentified person killed Jhaggu Prasad Dangi, 45, in front of his hotel at Holeri Bus Park in Tribhuvannagar Municipality of Dang by hitting him with a sword on Tuesday night. Property looted

LAHAN: A gang looted property worth Rs 140,000 from the house of one Kamal Saha at Dangaraha in Durgapur VDC-8 of Siraha on Tuesday. Saha said that a group of 12 persons looted goods including Rs 55,000 cash, jewellery and mobile set from his house. Tenants fled after the looters fired in the air. — RSS

ANFREL’s new team

KATHMANDU: A new team of Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), led by the Retired General Saiyud Kerdphol the former Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Army and current chairman of ANFREL, will arrive in Kathmandu on Thursday. The 80-member team will make the total number of international observers of ANFREL 100. Its 20 long-term observers have already been deployed in the field since March 14. — HNS

Sitaula’s assurance

DHADING: Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula on Wednesday urged all voters to shun any fear and cast votes. He said this while addressing an election campaign at Dhadingbensi, the Dhading district headquarters. He also said that the government was committed to guarantee a favourable security situation for the upcoming election. “While the top leaders are holding talks, the Maoist cadres attacked other party cadres in Rasuwa. This created doubt over their attitude,” Sitaula said. — HNS

Oli asks for votes

GAIGHAT: AT CPN-UML’s election campaign in Udaypur’s Gaighat on Wednesday, CPN-UML senior leader KP Oli, urged all to elect his party in the election so that they can eliminate monarchy and form a republican state. “The extreme Leftists and status quoists are trying to defeat UML as they fear that we are going to win the election,” he said. Stating that the country with federal system and right to self-determination would not disintegrate the nation, he said that UML’s focus is on a mixed economy for economic development and to eliminate poverty. — HNS

Poudel’s stance

DAMAULI: The vice-president of NC and minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel has said that election is essential to maintain long lasting peace in the nation. At a workers’ meet organised by the NC Byas Municipality-11at Bagh Bhanjyang on Wednesday, Poudel stressed on the victory of NC for the establishment of sustainable peace in the nation.
