UML student leaders join ANNISU-R

Kathmandu, May 18:
Surendra Basnet and Gopal Singh Dhami, two pro-UML student leaders, yesterday announced that they quit ANNFSU to join the pro-Maoist student body ANNISU-R Basnet is the vice-president of the Free Students’ Union at Ratna Rajya Campus, who was elected to the post through ANNFSU ticket, and Dhami was the Kathmandu Campus District Committee president and member of ANNFSU Bagmati Zonal Committee.
The duo, in a press statement issued today, accused the CPN-UML of serving feudalism in the guise of a communist party. The party’s sister organisations have turned into non-governmental organisations and the party has got bogged down into the capitalist quagmire, the statement said.
More ANNFSU students are preparing to join ANNSIU-R, said ANNISU-R office secretary Ratna Karki.
