Kathmandu, May 27:

Group A winners Deep Jyoti Secondary School qualified for the league stage after defeating Group B winners Magaldeep 2-0 in the selection tournament for the Coca-Coal Cup National Football Tournament here today.

Bijay Maharjan gave Deep Jyoti the lead in the 24th minute before Sunil Basnet doubled their lead in the 58the minute. In Group C action, GEMS edged out Adarsha Saul School 6-5 in sudden death after a 1-1 draw to advance to the final. Dipesh Jha put GEMS ahead in the 36th minute before Gyanendra Shahi levelled in the 47th.

Likewise, Bishwo Gorkha Academy and Tarun Secondary School also advanced to the semi-finals in Group D. Bishwo Gorkha defeated Pashupati Mitra 3-1 on goals from Mahesh Rokka, Laxman Maharjan and Anil Shrestha. Tarun sneaked past Mahankal Janajagriti School 5-3 in tiebreaker after a 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, All Nepal Football Association has rescheduled Tuesday’s matches to Wednesday.
