Kathmandu, September 19:

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said today that the government was fully committed to implementing peace pacts.

Speaking in the legislative session of the Constituent Assembly, the Prime Minister requested Constituent Assembly members not to doubt the government’s commitment to peace pacts though their implementation had been ‘delayed due to technical reasons.’

The PM said his visit to India had added a new chapter in bilateral relations.

The PM, who is leaving for New York tomorrow to take part in the UN Security Council’s General Assembly, pledged to highlight epoch-making changes that had taken place in the country.

Like the India visit, the UN visit too will be successful, he said.

“Today, I have received an invitation from US president George Bush for a reception,” he added.

The CPN-Maoist is still on the US’ terrorist watch list. Earlier, Constituent Assembly members from the NC and Tarai Madhes Democratic Party drew the government’ attention to incidents of lawlessness, including the Siraha land-grab the case.

NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel urged Speaker Subas Chandra Nembang not to continue with the House session until the PM responds to their grievances.

TMDP CA members Ishwar Dayal Mishra and Brijesh Kumar Gupta said the government was falsely indicting their cadres.

“We will stall House proceedings if the government move continues,” they said.
