Rajbiraj, October 12:

Acting chairman of the Nepal Sadhbhawana Party (Anandi Devi) Shyam Sundar Gupta warned today that the Maoist-led government would land the country in crisis.

Talking to reporters, Gupta, who has arrived in Rajbiraj to make preparations for the party’s general convention, accused the CPN-Maoist of “trying to establish a totalitarian regime.”

He criticised the CPN-Maoist for mobilising People’s Liberation Army personnel for the security of the Prime Minister.

Gupta claimed that it was illegal on the part of the Prime Minister to mobilise government security personnel and People’s Liberation Army personnel for his security.

Wielding arms, Maoist cadres are resorting to intimidation, he said, adding, “This is illegal.”

Gupta claimed that around 2,100 people, including 921 general convention representatives and observers, will participate in the convention scheduled to be held in Bhairahawa from October 19 to 21.

All conflicts dogging the party will come to an end by November 15, Gupta said, terming the election of Anandi Devi Singh as chairperson of the party in the last general convention “a mistake.”
