One arrested
POKHARA: Police on Tuesday arrested Mainakala Nepali of Sarangkot-1 in Kaski on the charge of killing her husband. Maina killed her husband Karna Bahadur (55) by hitting him with a stone used to grind spices on Monday after a domestic dispute, Kaski District Police Office said. — HNS
Woman missing
BHOJPUR: A woman has been missing after she fell from a bamboo bridge while crossing Ikhurwa river in between Dovane and Khatamma VDCs, the police said. The Bhojpur District Police office identified the missing woman as the wife of Mani Kumar Rai of Khatamma VDC-5. — HNS
Smugglers held
DAMAK: Two persons were arrested on the charge of smuggling timber in Damak of Jhapa on Tuesday. A team of Armed Police Force (APF) from Pathivara Battalion held Laab Narayan Chudhary of Gauradaha-1 and Krishna Thapa of Chulachuli-1 while they were carrying 227 cubic feet of timber in a tractor. In another case, 148 cubic feet of timber was seized from a furniture factory belonging to Shantiram Khadka from Gauradaha-1 on Tuesday, said Raj Kumar Lamichhane, APF’s DSP. — HNS
Three hurt in mishap
SARLAHI: Three persons were injured when two motorbikes collided head-on at Nawalpur on East-West Highway in Sarlahi on Tuesday. Bijay Shrestha of Lalbandi VDC-1, Chandra Shrestha of Haripur VDC-9 and Nawaraj of Murtiya VDC-3 were hurt in the accident, the Sarlahi District Traffic Police Office said. The injured were rushed to Birgunj and Hariwan for treatment. — HNS
Snakebite death
SIRAHA: Forty-year-old Hari Yadav of Nawarajpur-2 in Siraha district died of snakebite on Monday night. Yadav died for want of treatment as she was rushed to shamans instead of taking to a health centre, the Lahan Hospital said. — HNS
Five injured
DANG: Five persons were injured when a jeep heading to Tulsipur from Golatakuri met with an accident at Urhar-3 on Ameliya-Tulsipur road on Tuesday. The accident occurred when the jeep hit a cow and an ox, the police said, adding that the injured were being treated in Rapti Life Care Hospital in Tulsipur. The cow died on the spot, police added. — HNS
NOC officer abducted
BIRATNAGAR: A gang of six persons kidnapped Hari Khadka, an officer at Nepal Oil Corporation’s Eastern Regional Office, from Kanchanbari of Morang on Monday, said the District Police Office. The reason behind his abduction is yet to be ascertained. Khakda’s family suspected the role of Deepak Prasai, his brother-in law, in the abduction. — RSS
Contraband seized
PARSA: A crime control team from the Parsa District Police Office seized 100 kg of marijuana from a truck, being ferried to India, from Rampur of Bara on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, the police seized the contraband while the truck was parked at Shankaracharya Gate of Inaruwa. Hari Singh (35) and Satpal Singh (30) of Sahebabad of Uttar Pradesh of India were arrested, said Inspector KP Sharma. — RSS
Two held with drugs
PARASI: India’s Seema Surakshya Bal arrested two Nepalis along with 28 kg of illegal drugs worth Rs 2.8 million while they were trying to smuggle the contraband to India via Nawalparasi. The arrestees are Narbade Chauhan of Kusma VDC and Ram Bigur Harijan of Rampurawa VDC of the district. Meanwhile, a revenue patrol team from Bhairahawa customs seized illegally imported chemical fertilisers worth Rs 250,000 while it was being loaded on a truck at Chaurahapatkhauli. — RSS
Health services
PARASI: Health services in Nawalparasi district hospital resumed on Tuesday after an agreement between the agitating staffers and local administration. Hospital staffers had shut all services on Monday after a local, Prakash Upadhyay, thrashed hospital’s peon Rabi Prasad Chaudhary on Sunday. The pact to resume the services was reached after the administration agreed to take action against the guilty at a meeting. — RSS
