Dhading, October 22:
The situation in Dhadingbesi remained on the boil throughout the day after the police clashed with transporters in course of efforts to clear the way for the resumption of vehicular movement, which has remained halted for for four days at the call of the Dhading Microbus Entrepreneurs’ Association.
The Dhading Microbus Entrepreneurs’ Association has been been demanding that Gramin Yatayat Sahakari Sanstha not be allowed to operate its vehicles on the highway.
A transporter, Kumar Adhikari, was seriously injured when the police used force, while Dhading Microbus Entrepreneurs’ Association president Kumar Shah, general secretary Arjun Adhikari, secretary Dipak Tiwari and transporter Mana Raj Godar were held on the charge of disrupting vehicular movement.
Adhikari had blocked the Prithvi Highway by placing his microbus on the middle of the road. He has been rushed to Kathmandu for treatment.
The agitating transporters also vandalised a car belonging to immediate past president of the Nepal Petroleum Dealers’ Association Shiva Prasad Ghimire. After the clash, the agitators set a police post on fire.
