Killed for ‘spying’

SIRAHA: Cadres of Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha-Rajan Mukti (JTMM-R) faction on Tuesday evening killed Raj Kumar Yadav (32) of Jaruwa Tol in Laxminiya VDC-3 of the district by hurling a grenade at him. District assistant in-charge of the JTMM-R Shikhar Mukti said Yadav was killed for spying against the JTMM-R. A group led by STF commander Akash Tyagi had hurled grenade at Yadav. Narayan Thakur and Sridev Thakur of the same locality were injured by shrapnels. The injured are undergoing treatment in District Hospital, Siraha. However, District Police Office, Siraha, claimed that Yadav was killed while retaliating with armed looters in his village. “The group looted property worth Rs 3 lakh from the houses of Devi Thakur, Sukhiya Thakur and Ushadevi Thakur,”

High time for peace

Tanahun: Nepali Congress vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel today said that Nepali people wanted peace in the country. Inaugurating Shirkot drinking water project in Bhirkot VDC-6, Poudel said, “That war was too harsh for the country. Now we want peace.” He added that the development activities would have reached its peak today had the Maoists not started violent activities in the country. He also claimed that NC was the single party in the country that supported development activities. Road accident, 1 killed

BHAIRAHAWA: One person died and two injured when a car hit a motorbike in Butwal along the East-West Highway in Rupandehi district. Pillion rider Lalita Bhandari (55) of Shankarnagar VDC-4 in Rupandehi died when the car hit the motorbike that her son was driving. Her son Lok Nath (29) and Pashupati Gautam (26) of Butwal municipality-12, were injured, Area Police Office, said. — HNS

Angler’s body found

DANG: The Body of Kul Bahadur Shrestha who disappeared after drowning in the Rapti river was recovered on Wednesday morning. Shrestha (38), a resident of Lape of Jaluke VDC-6, Arghakhanchi district, had gone fishing on the river on Tuesday evening. According to the Area Police Office, Bhaluwang, Shrestha’s body was found in Kathedomai, 5 kilometers north of Bhaluwang. — HNS

Clubbed to death

LAMAHI: Ghan Bahadur Khadka, a resident of Khilatpur of Panchakule VDC 7, clubbed his wife to death on Tuesday night. The murderer killed her with a stick after she refused to give him money He was detained at the Area Police Office Khilatpur for the investigation, the police said. — HNS
