KATHMANDU, APRIL 25

The eviction of a squatter settlement in Thapathali began at 6 am Saturday on the orders of Prime Minister Balen Shah.

Residents were given just a few hours in the morning to remove their belongings. Many moved their possessions on time, and those who had found alternative accommodation had already relocated overnight.

However, those without alternatives were seen packing their belongings and leaving them scattered along the roadside.

A large number of police personnel-including Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Kathmandu Metropolitan City municipal police-were deployed to clear the settlement, with officers also helping squatters move their belongings.
