Kathmandu, December 26:

Main opposition Nepali Congress continued boycotting the regular business of the parliament for the fourth time today seeking the Prime Minister’s comments on the nine-point agreement that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had reached with the NC a month ago.

“We will not participate in the regular business of the House unless the PM gives replies to the progresses made on our nine-point demands,” NC whip Sobhakar Parajuli said before boycotting House today.

Following the opposition’s boycott, Speaker Subash Nembang adjourned the House till Sunday.

Parajuli demanded actions against those involved in attacking Himalmedia and Ankush, published from Birgunj. He also urged the government to inform the House about legal actions

taken against those involved in the killings of Koteshwor-based businessman Ramhari Shrestha, two youths of Kalanki, a businessman in Birgunj and a journalist in Kailali. He also came down heavily on the government for its decision to declare nearly 8,000 people killed during conflict and people’s movement as martyrs. Parajuli said the government wanted to provide one million rupees to each of the Maoist cadres killed during the conflict without setting any criteria.

“The PM must apologise to the nation for inciting youths to take up arms. We also demand compensation for the bereaved families of the Bandarmudhe incident in Chitwan,” Parajuli said. He also urged the government to inform the House about talks with armed groups.
