Dhangadhi, March 6:
Though the regional office of Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) in Dhangadhi has a stock of 40,000 quintals of rice, people in far-western Bajura district have been facing the shortage of rice after the NFC’s Kolti depot ran out of its stock.
Bishnu Budha of Kolti, who walked for three days to Bajura headquarters to buy rice, said he got only 20 kg of rice. “I and two members of my family came here hoping to get more rice. But we only got 20 kg,” he said, adding, “Half of this will be finished on our way back home.”
NFC’s depot in Kolti stopped distributing rice since last Sunday.
The NFC has allocated 38,000 quintals of rice for Kolti depot in this fiscal year. It has already sent 37,000 quintals to the depot.
