Sindhupalchowk, March 17:
Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chairman Pashupati SJB Rana said today that the days of the Maoists were numbered.
Addressing a party cadres’ gathering at district headquarters Chautara, Rana said the Maoist-led government would topple as it had failed to perform as per the people’s aspiration.
He also accused the Maoists of threatening the press. “It is foolish to expect the security of civilians from the government, as it has not been able to safeguard the security of the journalists,” he added.
He also said Nepali press had been compelled to work under fear and terror. Saying that there is no government in the country, Rana also said the Young Communist League and Youth Force had been terrorising people by taking law in their hands.
Meanwhile, addressing a press meet organised by the district chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Rana emphasised on the need of unity among the parties believing in multi-party competition.
When asked to comment on the going rift between the Defence Ministry and the Nepali Army, Rana said the management of the national army should not be solely done by the Ministry. “It should be carried out by the security council,” he added. He also suggested the ministry to
move ahead by taking the NA into confidence.
The RPP leader also opposed integrating PLA combatants into the NA.
