Kathmandu: The umbrella organisation of all indigenous nationalities across the country, Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN), on Thursday war-ned of ethnic violence if the retaliation committees and vigilante groups being formed in different parts of the country were not scrapped. NEFIN expressed serious concern over the involvement of the cadres of different political parties in such committees against the movement of indigenous nationalities in eastern Tarai. “We would like to request all not to fuel ethnic violence by forming retaliation committees,” stated a press release issued by NEFIN.

The extended meeting of the secretariat of the Federal Council of NEFIN held here today also directed all its district coordination committees and affiliated ethnic organisations and members not to engage in any activity that would undermine national integrity and communal harmony.
