Nepalgunj, March 29:

Acting president of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala today compared Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal with former king Gyanendra, terming both as dictators.

Addressing a press meet organised by the Banke chapter of Nepal Press Union, Koirala said the Prime Minister was another dictator after the former king. He added that the leaders and cadres of UCPN-Maoist, including the ministers, were attacking the independence of judiciary.

“The People’s Liberation Army combatants staying in the cantonments are also unleashing terror and anarchy,” he alleged.

Saying that impunity was rampant, he said the Maoists’ attack on the independence of the judiciary showed that they were not committed to democracy. Koirala also said the PM’s Europe visit had reduced the significance of the the winter session of the parliament. He also maintained that the NC was still against the ordinances introduced by the Maoists. “We need to discuss the issue in the parliament. However, the PM is on a European sojourn, ignoring the seriousness of the hour,” he said.

He added that there had been no respite from political instability and violence even though the nation was about to take a historic leap. Koirala said the Maoists had forced the NC to take to the streets. “All sections of the society, including the journalists, are in agitation mode.

Maoists have forced us into this state,” he added.

He also rubbished rumours of NC joining the government. “We won’t join the government at any rate,” he clarified. He also slammed the former rebels for not abiding by the past agreements. “They are neither implementing the past accords nor returning the seized property,” he said.
