Minors killed in blast GULMI: Two kids in Darling village development committee of Gulmi district had a spot death when a bomb they were playing with went off on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as 11-year-olds Bom Bahadur BK and Hom BK, police said. The duo died in Darling's Sanodaha Jungle where they had gone to rear cattle. A police team left for the site 33 kilometers north of the district headquarters on Sunday. Gulmi DSP Rajendra Palikhe said, "Detailed report of the incident is yet to come." Nine persons have died in stray bomb explosions in Gulmi so far. — THT Online

Shortage of potato NEPALGUNJ: Potato production has decreased this year in Banke and Bardiya districts. Disclosing the decrease in production, the District Agricultural Office, Banke, said that the price of potato has gone up in the market this time around. The stock of potato at cold storage centres has also gone down. — RSS

Police firing: 5 hurt ITHARI: Five youths were injured when the police opened fire after rioters tried to seize the guns they were carrying at Chitaha village development committee in Sunsari last night. A dispute over hiring a priest for a religious function took a nasty turn and resulted in a clash between local youths. Among the youths, some tried to overpower police personnel and seize their guns. Following this, the police, to take the situation under control, opened fired on the rioters. The injured are undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. —RSS
