GORKHA: Nepali Congress general secretary and CA member, Kul Bahadur Gurung, on Sunday directed NC activists to be ready for a stir. Addressing a mass meet organised by Phujel-Kathmandu Contact Association, Gurung urged NC activists to stand up against UCPN-Maoist’s dictatorial ways. “Maoists cannot be exonerated for the atrocities they continue to perpetrate,” he said, adding, “Our failure to stand up against them would lead to the birth of another dictator in the nation.” NC would not let the parliament function until the Maoists implement all the past agreements, he said. Saying that NC was helping the committees formed to facilitate the constitution-writing process, he claimed that obstruction of House proceedings would not obstruct the process. NSU chairman,Pradip Poudel, said Tribhuvan University had become a breeding ground for YCL and Youth Force cadres. Hooliganism of the YCL and the Youth Force is rampant in all campuses, he said, adding, “The attack on TU vice chancellor is a recent instance of hooliganism.” CA members Kamala Pant and Jeevan Prem Shrestha and NC central member Chiranjivi Kumar Wagle also addressed the mass meet.
