RNA disarms Congo ultras:
KATHMANDU: The Royal Nepalese Army’s (RNA) peace-keeping troops have beeen successful in disarming 118 militias, who were terrorising locals by extorting food and tax at Ariwara in Ituri of the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to RNA Department of Public Relations. The Nepali battalion (Nepbatt) recovered 118 weapons, including 111 AK 47 rifles, two machine guns, one rocket launcher and a 2” mortar, one SAR 80 rifle, and significant amount of magazines and ammunition. “Nepbatt has launched over 16 operations against militias in Congo and the latest acheivement is appreciated,” said an RNA official. — HNS
Nepal-India forces’ meet:
biratnagar: A routine meeting of the security forces from Nepal and India was held here on Wednesday. hs Kharkawal, the Deputy Inspector General of central headquarters of the Special Security Bureau (ssb), Barauni and various other unit officers of the border area ssb from the Indian side and Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police Krishna Basnet took part in the meeting. — RSS
Fire in refugee camp:
DAMAK: Fire engulfed the Bhutanese refugee camp in Beldangi on Wednesday morning. The fire took place in sector 1 of the camp at 11:35 am and was brought under control at 1:40 pm, police said. No casualty was reported but a huge haystack has been reduced to ashes, the fire fighting office at Damak stated. Mechinagar, Damak, Bhadrapur and Itahari assisted in controlling the fire, said Damak police. — HNS
Hurt passenger returns:
POKHARA: Rameshwor Poudel, among the nine passengers injured in the bus mishap in Dharapani of Lekhnath municipality last Sunday, returned home after treatment on Monday. The other eight passengers are also out of danger, said a hospital source. — HNS
Committee formed:
MAHANGKAL: The residents of Ward No 5 and 6 of Mahangkal village development committee in Kathmandu district have formed an eight-member committee
headed by Laxmi Prasad Limbu to solve the road problem. Approximately 1.5 km road connecting Golfutar with Mandikhatar began construction in 1980 but remains incomplete. — HNS
Man found dead:
DHADING: A pedestrian, who had taken shelter at a local inn at Palpa Bhanjyang situated in Murali Bhanjyang-6 of Dhading district, was found dead on Monday night. The male, who is in his late forties, is yet to be identified. — RSS
