DADELDHURA: Starvation looms large in almost 11 VDCs of Dadeldhura district due to steep decline in the production of crops this year. A survey conducted by the District Agriculture Office revealed that VDCs, including Gakhet, Dewal, Chipur, Bhadrapur, Ajayameru, Koteli, Maanilek, Belapur, Ganeshpur, Keilpalmandaau and Atital out of the 20 VDCs in the district were facing shortage of food. Senior technician of Dadeldhura Agriculture Office Leknath Adhikari informed that production of wheat had declined by 60 per cent. He said, “Locals used to export wheat to others districts. However, the decline in production of crops has compelled locals to import food.” “Production of food witnessed a decline in the district due to prolonged draught in the district,” said chief, District Agriculture Office, Rajendra Mishra.
