ITAHARI: Fourth grader Nischal Karki at Koshi Saint James’ School in Itahari was severely punished by his English teacher on Wednesday. Teacher Puskar Chaudhary, clubbed Nischal with a bottle of mineral water for not doing his assignment. According to Dilip Karki, Nischal’s father, Chaudhary’s persistent hitting had injured the child in the head. Nischal said his teachers had given him a first aid and sent him home asking him not to tell anyone about the incident. “My son arrived home with blood dripping down his head,” said Dilip. I was not informed by anybody about the incident earlier. The boy was treated at a local clinic. According to the guardians, nobody of the school had come to see the injured child. The teacher’s action has infuriated the guardians.They have demanded an end to corporal punishment at school. The guardians are learnt to be preparing to file a case with the police tomorrow. Meanwhile, Tanka Khulal, founder of the school, conceded that the incident was an unpardonable fault.The school proprietor said Chaudhary would soon be dismissed from the job.
