Locals join hands to build ring road

BIRATNAGAR: Locals of Urlabari in Morang district have decided to construct a 25 kilometer-long ring road in the VDC recently.Fida International Construction has already completed the survey of the road that will go through all the wards of the VDC. The construction of 20 feet-wide road will be completed within five years. “The government will allocate budget for the construction of the ring road in next fiscal year,” Birbal Thapa, chairman of the Ring Road Construction Committee said. The proposed ring road will go through Jhumra, Thapadangi, Siruwajhar, Dumre, Sunjhora, Salbari, Bakraha Khola, Bhanu Library, Kulung chowk and Panityanki areas of the VDC. “The construction of the ring road will help in the development of agriculture, tourism and transportation sector,” Bashanta Shrestha, a local said. “It will not only uplift the economic status of the locals but also help in planned urbanization,” Bishendra Chemjong, deputy secretary of the sub-committee of Ring Road Construction Committee said. Construction of similar ring roads was initiated in Biratnagar and Damak Municipality in Jhapa six years ago, that are yet to be completed.
