Surkhet airport gives compensation

BIRENDRANAGAR: The Civil Aviation Authority, Surkhet, has agreed to compensate the land owners whose land was seized for the expansion of the Surkhet airport. The amount of Rs.2.4 billion out of total Rs. 4.1 billion had already been distributed through CDO office, Surkhet, whereas some Rs. 1.68 billion is still pending. The construction work had been disrupted by the land owners demanding the payment of the remaining money. According to the Utsab Kharel, chief of the Authority, the money will be distributed by mid-July and the construction work will also resume immediately. Some 200 metres of land towards the north of the airport was seized for the expansion of its length. After the expansion the length of the airport will be 1,200 metres.
