LONDON: Gwyneth Paltrow's mother Blythe Danner urged her daughter not follow her into acting - because she wanted her offspring to embark on a more intellectual profession. Danner has enjoyed her own long and prosperous acting career and Paltrow's later father Bruce was a successful film director. But Danner admits she and her husband always hoped their bright daughter would become a doctor or a lawyer - and tried to discourage her from entering showbusiness. But the couple gave in and allowed Paltrow to become a thespian when they saw her act. She tells Fox news, "She’s so smart we wanted her to find a cure for AIDS or something. We were pretty firm about her finishing her education but when we saw how talented she was we finally said okay."
