SARLAHI: Minster for Commerce and Supplies and chairman of the Nepal Sadbhavana Party, Rajendra Mahato, today said the Unified CPN-Maoist should take the drafting of the new constitution seriously. Speaking at a press meet organised by the Journalism Development Foundation in Malangwa, Mahato said, “Though the drafting of the constitution is the responsibility of all the political parties, more responsibility rests on the shoulders of the UCPN-M.” Stating that political consensus was a must for the drafting of the new constitution, he accused the Maoists of delaying the process as they hesitated to join the government. “People now doubt whether the constitution will be drafted on time or not, as the UCPN-M is delaying joining the government,” the minister reasoned. He said the prime task of the government was to usher in development by drafting the constitution on schedule. Minster Mahato also claimed that the integrated security policy of the government would soon end impunity in the country. “If the policy is implemented properly, it will certainly control criminal activities in the nation,” he said.
