Land transfer to women on rise in Morang

BIRATNAGAR: The trend of transferring ownership of land in the names of women has drastically increased of late in the Biratnagar Revenue Office. According to the office, it transferred ownership of land to 667 women, 292 from rural areas and 375 from urban areas, in the first month of the current fiscal year. The number was just 505 in the same period the last fiscal year. The trend of transferring ownership of land to women is on the rise following the government’’s policy of giving 25 percent discount in revenue while transferring the land in the names of women, said Chief Revenue Officer Madhusudan Pokhrel.
