Two bodies found MAHOTTARI: Two women were found dead in Mahottari district on Saturday. Body of Sanischari Tamang, 52, a resident of Khayarmara-6, was found hanging from a tree in Ward No 4 of the VDC. Police suspect Tamang, who was heading for Bardibas for treatment, could have committed a suicide. Locals, however, said she was killed. In another incident, body of Rita Kumari Sharma, 22, a resident of Laxminiya VDC-5, was found in a sugarcane field in Ward No 8 of the VDC, Mahottari District Police Office said. Rita had left her family following a dispute on August 27, police said, suspecting it to be a murder. — HNS Four smugglers held GAIGHAT: Police on Saturday afternoon arrested four persons in the midst of their chopping Saal trees in a national forest on the border of Saptari and Udaypur districts. According to ranger Lomnath Timilsina, the timber smugglers have been identified as Chanda Sardar, Jit Bahadur Sardar, Binod Sardar and Jageshwor Sardar. They had also attacked the foresters’ team injuring Assistant Forest Officer Ram Prasad Raya. The security team had fired six bullets to take the smugglers under control, Timilsina said. — HNS Girl’s body found SANKHUWASABHA: A minor, who had been missing after she was swept away by a stream in Num VDC four days ago, was found dead on Thursday. The body of six-year old Gaurimaya Gurung, was found some one kilometre downstream from the village, informed police. — RSS
