ISTANBUL: Major floods that swept through Istanbul and the adjoining Tekirdag province killed at least 32 people with eight people still missing, according to a new toll released Thursday by Anatolia news agency. The body of a man whose wife and three daughters were also killed when the deluge swept through their farm was found in mud in Tekirdag, the semi-official agency reported. Emergency services are still searching for eight people missing after the three days of torrential rain that hit Turkey's biggest city and its surrounding region. Twenty six of the dead are in Istanbul. Though the rains eased Wednesday night, new storms are predicted for Friday and Saturday. On a visit to Istanbul, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called it the "disaster of the century".
