KFVMDB starts price list info service

By Himalayan News Service

KATHMANDU: Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Board (KFVMDB), as planned earlier, has come out with a notice board service for daily wholesale price information. The rise in prices of vegetables and fruits has been a major concern for valley dwellers for an over-stretched period of time. In order to counter this problem and create a well-established buyer and seller relationship KFVMB has launched its information service in the form of a notice board which will provide a daily price list for consumers. “This service has been launched to make available the price list of products to everyone, specifically the consumers,” said Kalimati Fruit and Vegetable Market Association planning officer Binay Shrestha. A month back, KFVMDB had held an interactive program to rake in suggestions to counter the plundering by middle men who sell produce at exorbitant rates in the retail market. Middlemen buy at wholesale rates and retail them at very high prices. Now, KFVMDB’s information release facility will help consumers buy fruits and vegetables at true market rates and avoid being cheated by retailers. This notice board facility is a result of the interactive program and is geared to make consumers more aware of the prices of fruits and vegetables. Along with the notice board service, consumers can also call a helpline number service to get information about the daily wholesale prices. Kalimati Fruits and Vegetable Market is the pioneer organized wholesale market in Nepal where retailers, institutional consumers and other bulk consumer procure supplies.
