Ilam, April 16:
The number of women opting for the tri-monthly vaccine for contraception is on the rise in Maimajhuwa village located in the northern part of the district. According to personnel at the health post of Maimajhuwa VDC, only 60 children of the village have undergone the immunisation vaccination course. On the other hand, the number of women coming for the vaccine — known as Sangini — has reached 400. Health post incharge Raj Kumar Shah said the villagers were neglecting to bring their children for immunisation though there are vaccination centres in all nine wards. Women are venturing to the health post on their own, Shah said, adding most of the married women of ward numbers 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are taking the vaccine.
