King issues ordinances

KATHMANDU: The King has, in accordance with the Constitution, promulgated the Nepal Water Supply Corporation (third amendment) Ordinance-2005, Water Supply Management Board Ordinance-2005, and Drinking Water Tariff Determination Commission Ordinance-2005, according to the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. — RSS

Zonal chiefs take oath

KATHMANDU: In the presence of the King, Home Minister Dan Bahadur Shahi administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly-appointed regional administrators and zonal administrators separately at the Royal Palace on Monday. The Crown Prince was also present on the occasion. — RSS

House gutted

KATHMANDU: A house owned by Badri Khatri at Kirtipur municipality-15 was gutted on Monday

morning. The house was completely destroyed in the fire that broke out after an electric appliance in the house exploded. The fire that broke out at around 11 am was taken under control by the locals and police personnel. The fire damaged property worth Rs 103,400. — HNS

NSP hosts tea party

KATHMANDU: Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandi Devi) on Monday hosted a tea party to mark the 77th birth anniversary of party leader Ganjendra Narayan Singh. On the occasion, former prime minister and president of the Rastriya Janashakti Party Surya Bahadur Thapa said called upon all the democratic forces to come up with a common political agenda to bring democratic process back on track. — HNS

Regional training begins

Kathmandu: A five-day-long intensive training on financial management in the education ministries of the South Asian countries began at Nagarkot on Monday. Minister for Education and Sports Radha Krishna Mainali inaugurated the training. The training was organised by Nepal National Commission for UNESCO. Twenty-seven people from Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are participating in the training. — HNS

World Book Day

KATHMANDU: The World Book Day is to be observed formally for the first time in Nepal on April 23. The birthday of English poet John Milton is to be observed as World Book Day. Shakespeare’s birthday also falls on this day. A function will be organised by Bhabak Abhiyan Nepal. — RSS
