HOLLYWOOD: Christina Applegate lashed out at new US mammography guidance. The Tony award-winning actress joined a host of older celebs that include fellow survivors Olivia Newton-John, Jaclyn Smith and Melissa Etheridge in criticising the new guidance that raised the age of a woman's first mammogram from 40 to 50 and cut annual screening. Applegate, 38, had a double mastectomy following a 2008 diagnosis with breast cancer. She afterward said she was '100 percent clear' of the cancer. Applegate vowed to fight the guidelines which followed statistical research. She said: 'Don't even get me started. Look, I just started to sweat. I get a little angry. I don't mind being outspoken about that. I think that is the most atrocious thing I've ever heard. I was 36 years old when I had breast cancer, and you're going to have people wait until, like, they're 50 to get screened? It irks my whole body.' She added: 'I'm telling you, it's not going to happen. We women will fight that as much as we can.'
