Syakar Trading Company (STC), authorised distributor of Honda is all set to roll out its latest offering — CRF250L Rally in Nepal. According to the company, the adventure bike is expected to be launched in the domestic market by the end of March, 2017. Inspired by the factory CRF450 Rally machine raced in the Dakar by Team HRC, and based on the standard CRF250L, this bike is a perfect fit for weekend adventure, long-distance tours and daily commute.

“It is an ultimate adventure bike that is somewhere between a dirt bike and a cruiser,” shared Rajan Raj Puri, Manager of Honda Two-wheeler Division at STC. He further added that it’s built quality and design which is suitable for both on- and off-road rides, make it apt product for the domestic market.

“Overall the bike is very attractive. From its front look, to the riding posture and clean finish, customers will be impressed by its appearance,” said Puri. He claims that it will be the one best for dual purpose — aggressive and fun riding in Nepal. Citing that the target customers are mostly youth, he revealed that the tentative price of the bike will be within the bracket of Rs 1.1 million Rs 1.2 million. “The market size is very niche so our projection for its sales is tentatively 100 units within the first year of its launch,” he added.

The lightweight adventure bike features a 250 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with a peak power of 24.4 hp delivered at 8,500 rpm. Featuring style that reflects adventure and travel, the bike has long-travel suspension, large-disk ABS brakes, excellent weather protection and an impressive cruising range. Engine performance combines solid bottom-end torque with substantial top-end power. Meanwhile, the standard CRF250L also features a number of powertrain changes that are aimed at increasing power and improving throttle response.

At the front it has a rally-type ‘floating’ screen, fairing and radiator shrouds that provide wind protection. The rest of the machine shows off minimal MX style. It has asymmetric LED headlights and turn signals. It flaunts stylish black alumite aluminum rims — 21-inch front and 18-inch rear and block pattern enduro-style tyres.

It has a large fuel tank that allows extensive range and its new digital dash includes a fuel gauge and tachometer. The flat filler cap is hinged for rider convenience.

The PGM-FI feeds the fuel/air mixture through a 38 mm throttle body and draws air from the airbox via a direct connecting tube. The exhaust muffler has a diametre of 115 mm, houses the catalyser and uses two chambers. A large-bore downpipe helps the engine breathe and make more power.

Its long-travel suspension and high ground clearance enhance long-distance off-road ability. The larger floating front disc — plus ABS that can be switched off for the rear brake — delivers stopping power.
