KATHMANDU, APRIL 12
Time is set to move forward bringing forth changes.
Nature changes with the seasons and weather, and so do our whims, hopes and goals. As such, at the start of a New Year, we are filled with enthusiasm.
We pledge to ourselves that this year will be our year! Celebratory moods are at an alltime high as the clock's hands align themselves at midnight, and it is a brand New Year. The beginning of a year is thus often highlighted with renewed resolve for better days.
For instance, each year I make resolutions and am determined to see through them. In 2078 BS,I pledged to read more, exercise, eat healthy and lose weight while also perfecting my skills in writing and art.
Despite failing to lose weight, I felt comfortable in my skin and didn't sweat the numbers on the weighing scale. Yoga, meditation and exercise gave me a feeling of deep calm.
Further, I flexed my creativity to a new level. Thus I worked on my physical, mental and spiritual health throughout the previous year.
And one of the several bright sides of 2078 was that I gained a new perspective – it is more important to embrace one's worth not in appearances but in good health and well-being. And self-acceptance is a great feeling!
It gives you not just confidence but also inspiration.
What if I am the captain of my own fate? No longer am I only a passive observer of my life, I am in fact in charge of it. I can create my own destiny and what better way to acknowledge my own strengths than through the manifestations of my dreams.
All of us want to be successful, happy and affluent. Our lives are interwoven with dreams, hopes and wishes, and the beauty of humanity is that there is always a chance for a better future.
While the world today might be mired in wars, pandemics and climate disasters, hope is still prevalent in the spheres of humanity. Much of the previous year was spent tackling the pandemic. And Nepal stood strong. Vaccinations and safety protocols were followed through, which led to waning coronavirus cases by the end of 2078. People persevered through the difficult year, and now it is time to revive, rejoice and reconnect.
Those who had to put their plans on hold in 2078 are now looking forward to the New Year's pledge of optimism. Now travel and itinerary plans are suddenly put on the world map.
The weather is pleasant enough. Schools and colleges are welcoming students while offices have resumed their services.
The coming days are certainly full of opportunities.
Here's to a Happy New Year 2079!
