13.6pc rise in revenue collection

The ministry of finance has stated that revenue totalling Rs 51.812 billion has been collected until June 14 this year. This amount is more by 13.6 per cent compared to the revenue collection in the corresponding period of last fiscal year. According to a finance ministry press release issued on Tuesday, of the total revenue amount collected, Rs 41.78 billion was collected from tax revenue while Rs 10.02 billion was collected from the non-tax revenue. The tax revenue has increased by 14.6 per cent and non-tax revenue by 9.8 per cent as compared to figures in the corresponding period of last fiscal year, the press release states.
Tax revenue makes up 80.66 per cent and the non-tax revenue 19.34 per cent of the total revenue collection.
Nepal Rastra Bank has released Rs 68.24 billion in the 11 months of the current fiscal year 2003-04 and this amount is more by 8.9 per cent compared to the amount released by the central bank in the corresponding period last fiscal year, the ministry of finance stated. According to the ministry, the release in the general head has increased by 6.2 per cent and reached Rs 51.82 billion compared to the general release in the corresponding period in fiscal year 2002-03.
The release in the development heads this fiscal year has increased by 18.5 per cent and reached Rs 16.41 billion compared to the figures in the corresponding period of last fiscal year. Likewise, of the released amount, Rs 47.46 billion has been spent under general head until June 14 while Rs 13.93 billion has been spent under the development head in the current fiscal year. This is an increase by 6.4 per cent in the general head and 18.7 per cent in the development head compared the respective expenditures in the corresponding period of fiscal year 2002-03, the ministry of finance has stated.
