A total of 173 cargo containers carrying goods imported from China have left Mustang for Pokhara, Kathmandu and other destinations following the reopening of the obstructed Beni-Jomsom road.
The containers had been stranded in Mustang for around two weeks because of the road disruption. The route reopened on the evening of October 9, allowing cargo and other vehicles to resume movement.
Mustang District Police Office said that 85 containers left Mustang on the first day after the road reopened, followed by another 88 on the second day.
According to the police post in Ghasa, Thasang Rural Municipality-4, on the Myagdi-Mustang border, 391 vehicles left Mustang in the first two days after traffic resumed. More than 50 vehicles had departed by Sunday, the report said.
Meanwhile, shipments of apples produced in Mustang have also begun, said Karma Gurung, proprietor of Chimle Apple Farming.
