NOC, however, refused to provide the names of other companies that have taken part in bidding competition.NOC had earlier called on interested parties to submit bid documents on supply of petroleum products within Saturday. It had later extended the deadline till Sunday because of a public holiday on Saturday.“What is surprising about this bidding process is that IOC, which had earlier refused to supply oil to NOC citing security reasons in the Tarai, has also taken part in the competition,” NOC’s Acting Deputy General Manager Sushil Bhattarai told The Himalayan Times.“In the bid document submitted by IOC, it has made acknowledgement of its obligation to supply petroleum products to NOC based on a five-year agreement it had signed with NOC in 2012. It has also said it would continue increasing fuel supply in the coming days,” Bhattarai added.NOC has already started evaluating the bid documents. “We will start negotiations with the bidders from tomorrow and hand over the contract soon,” Bhattarai said. The company, which bags the contract, must supply 200 kilolitres (kl) of diesel, 100 kl of petrol, 200 kl of kerosene and aviation turbine fuel, and 100 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per day to NOC for a period of 15 days. The petroleum products, excluding LPG, sought by NOC are equivalent to only 12.5 per cent of daily supply made by NOC on normal days.
