KATHMANDU, JULY 31

The 44th annual general meeting of the Association of Nepalese Rice, Oil and Pulses Industry (ANROPI) held here has elected a new working committee unopposed for the next two years under the chairmanship of Kumud Kumar Dugad.

Dugad has already served under the post of the president for two tenures in the past.

Outgoing president Subodh Kumar Gupta, First Vice-President Ram Thapa, Second Vice-President Rahul Agrawal, General Secretary Deepak Kumar Poudel, Deputy General Secretary Dhiraj Golchha, and Treasurer Ratan Lal Kedia have been elected in the working committee.

The meeting decided to maintain the customs rate at one per cent on rice imports, coordinate with the government to make arrangements with the Indian government to expel any shortages of rice, and also increase rice production in the country.

Similarly, resolutions have been passed to maintain customs rate on pulses imports at two per cent, maintain incentives on export of pulses, and take necessary steps for price adjustment on imported pulses.
