50pc bus tickets for Dashain booked
Kathmandu, September 3
Commuters planning to leave Kathmandu Valley for Dashain should immediately rush to secure their travel as soon as possible as more than half of bus tickets available has already been booked.
As booking of bus tickets for Dashain began from Tuesday, transport entrepreneurs said major ticket counters across Valley have been flooded with people planning to leave for their hometowns. As per the government’s assumption, almost three million people will leave for their hometowns from the Valley during Dashain.
“Since people were desperate to book their bus tickets for Dashain, more than half of the available bus tickets has been booked in the last few days. We think all the bus tickets for Dashain will be booked by next week,” informed Saroj Sitaula, general secretary of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs.
Dashain commuters can book their bus tickets from different ticket stations like Kalanki, New Bus Park, Old Bus Park, Koteshwor and Gaushala, among others. Meanwhile, Sitaula assured that Dashain commuters will get bus tickets in a hassle-free manner.
Transport entrepreneurs are also preparing to add additional vehicles in different routes where the demand for tickets is higher.
Meanwhile, transport entrepreneurs and the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) will be having a meeting on Monday to decide
on the measures that need to be taken to ease commuting during the festive season.
DoTM has set up help desks at different check points and bus ticket stations in a bid to facilitate the public and make sure that bus tickets are
issued in a fair manner. Similarly, DoTM is also planning to use a few school buses and Sajha buses along various routes if there is shortfall of bus tickets.
